Buoyancy Factor is a term I’ve borrowed from the oil and gas industry, where its used to make drilling calculations. When I learned this term, it made me think about the uncertainty we face in a more watery future caused and exacerbated by these industries; legacies of how people and ecosystem have been exploited and extracted over time in Southern Louisiana.
This new sculptural drawing features my new green inks on my handmade plasticane paper; sewn over a welded structure. By connecting with my materials in a slower, more deliberate manner, I’m offering a different way to engage with our world if we want to ensure a livable future for generations to come.
